Kawasaki Motorcyles and Engines Will Operate as Independent Unit Beginning October 2021

KHI sees combined motorcycle and engine group autonomous status leading to continued growth in coming years.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich, (Nov. 2020)---Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Japan, has announced that effective October 1, 2021, its Motorcycle and Engines business unit will operate independently of KHI. The move will promote increased flexibility for these categories in order to more quickly respond to market opportunities and innovations.

Kawasaki Engines Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. (KMC) will be able to capitalize on this change through a speedier, more efficient concept-to-market process that will provide the Division with greater latitude in the overall development timeline.

Nelson Wilner, Engines Division vice president said “This move is recognition of KHI’s confidence in the success of our engine business that has steadily grown over the past decade. It provides us greater autonomy to pursue opportunities that will provide benefits for our entire Kawasaki Engines family—our OEMs, distributors, and dealers.”

Wilner indicated that no changes to employee structure or responsibility are expected.

Kawasaki Engines, a division of Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., distributes gasoline engines for landscape, industrial, and consumer markets. The division is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich. It sells to and services customers through a network of more than 40 OEMs, 15 distributors, and more than 7,500 independent dealers throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, select countries in Central and South America, and the U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific, including Guam.
